Be A Part of It: Volunteer!

It takes help from the community to present these young people with this wonderful opportunity. If you're interested in investing 2-5 hours of your time to help inspire our youth, please read the list of ways you can get involved below.

All coordination and materials are provided, all we need is your expertise and feedback. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible as your schedule allows!

To volunteer or learn more, contact Karen Brooks at kbrooks@hcoe.org or 707-445-7563.

Phase 1: SHARE YOUR STORY
November 27, 2018 to February 13, 2019
During the school day you can inspire students to discover and enter a business idea as a 60-90 second video pitch.

Phase 1: BE AN IDEA JUDGE
February 16-22, 2019
Review the student “pitch” videos and score them to help select up to 50 semifinalists.

Phase 2: COACH IN A WORKSHOP
Your expertise can help shape a student’s idea into a viable business concept.  There will be several workshops in March to coach on their idea development, marketing their business and financial planning.  The students really take advantage of the coaches’ advice and can help shape a winning idea!

Phase 2: BE AN ANSWER SET JUDGE
April 15-19, 2019

Review and score the students’ answer sets to select the top ten finalists.

Phase 3: BE A MENTOR
April 22 to May 22, 2019

This one-on-one coaching, as time allows, helps refine the Finalist’s concept and prepare them for the Finale.

Phase 3: BE A FINALE PRACTICE JUDGE
May 23 at HCOE from 1 to 5:30 p.m.

Provide feedback and coaching on speech style, body language, presentation elements as well as overall strength of concept as the Finalists practice their “pitch.”

Phase 3: BE A DESIGN REVIEW JUDGE
May 17 at HCOE from 2 TO 5:30 p.m.

Five contenders pitch their less-developed idea for feedback to further their concept.
